Substance Abuse Treatment for Women
Substance Abuse treatment centers for women are necessary because women face several challenges in recovery that are gender specific. Although men and women abuse alcohol or drugs for many of the same reasons, women tend to suffer from addiction because they are in bad relationships, have low self-esteem or self-image problems, or a history of sexual abuse.
In addition to emotional and psychological issues substance abuse affects the health of women quite seriously. Studies show that women tend to suffer from hormonal problems that can complicate addiction, and also psychiatric problems that make them quite compulsive and obsessive.
At St. Martin de Porres House of Hope, we understand how difficult the decision can be for a woman to go into a treatment center which is why our program caters to women and their children. Our program is designed to meet the unique biological, psychological, social and familial needs of women.
